Written by Matt Williams

AL MVP: 3B Even Longoria (Tampa Bay Devil Rays)
The 2011 AL MVP goes to Even Longoria. Longoria batted .372 over 589 at bats, the top in the AL. His 129 RBI’s was second in the AL behind his rookie teammate Serio Pedroza. He also was second in home runs at 43, one behind Ryan Howard. He had the best Slugging percentage in all of baseball at .677. He also led his team to its second World Series victory in vMLB history.

AL CY Young: SP Carlos Carrasco (Tampa Bay Devil Rays)
Carlos Carrasco is the 2011 CY Young Award Winner. With a 2.66 ERA and 20 wins, both top in the AL, he found himself being awarded as the best pitcher in baseball. He was also first in opponents batting avg. at .219 and shutouts at 4. He struck out 235 in 240 innings pitched, which is second best in the AL behind teammate McGee. He was also apart of the staff who won the World Series.

AL Rookie of the Year: LF Serio Pedroza (Tampa Bay Devil Rays)
There was no question who the AL Rookie of the Year would go to. Serio Pedroza entered the league with amazing power hitting 40 HR this season. He has a batting average of .286 and hit in a league high 132 RBI’s. A late bloomer at 27 won the Rookie of the Year Award and looks to have a bright future ahead of him.

NL MVP:  CF Jay Bruce (Cincinnati Reds)
For the third year running, Jay Bruce wins the MVP award. Only at the age of 24 this young Jay Bruce has a chance of making history with his promising career. This year he batted a league high .377 with 37 home runs and 124 RBI’s, but he also adds a little speed to his game too with 55 stolen bases. Jay Bruce is an all around great super star.

NL CY Young: Scott Diamond (Atlanta Braves)
With the injury to Jim Larson, Atlanta’s Scott Diamond didn’t have much competition for the CY Young award. He pitched a league high 2.06 ERA with a 21-4 record. He was second in strikeouts with 263, just behind division rival Calero. Opponents just hit .200 off him, which also is best in baseball.

NL Rookie of the Year: Terry ‘Jaws’ Compton (Florida Marlins)
The National League Rookie of the Year was harder to pick. There wasn’t one clear favorite. It could have been Josh Thole of the New York Mets, Cole Sharpe of the Los Angels Dodgers, Michael Griffin of the Philadelphia Phillies, or Jordan Hatt also of the Philadelphia Phillies. The Rookie of the Year though went to Terry ‘Jaws’ Campton. He hit .300 with 13 homeruns and 80 RBI’s. He also knew how to just get on base with 80 walks and a OBP of .391.
